Let’s Make Some Noise!

Contact your MP about the maternity crisis

ARM want to respond to the recently announced National maternity investigation and the 10 Year Health Plan for England, and are asking you all to contact your MP to ask them to share our message with Wes Streeting, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care.

ARM’s message to Wes Streeting:

• We are esteemed experts in maternity care, who have long campaigned for improvements in maternity services and person-centred care – so please invite us to contribute to the National Maternity and Neonatal Taskforce
• Please also invite families who have had positive experiences of maternity care to contribute, as well as families who have experienced loss and harm

 
We want the government’s proposed radical shifts to re-invent the NHS in the 10 Year Health Plan for England to include:

• Radical shift from hospital to community – provision of homebirth and stand-alone birth centre options for all who want it
• Radical shift from sickness to prevention – invest in maternity care, the foundation for lifelong physical and mental health; implement continuity of midwifery care; develop a comprehensive national infant feeding strategy

Radical Midwives can help Wes Streeting achieve the radical shifts he wants! And the maternity crisis is currently a hot topic … So this is a great time to take action …

Download our ‘Template email to your MP‘ for you to use and our pamphlet ‘Maternity Care, a Way Forward‘ to share with your MP. Parliament closes for summer recess on 22nd July, so try to do so before then, if you can – it will only take a few minutes.
