Come join us as we go with storyteller Rachel O’Leary on a journey ‘With Woman into the Dark: Myths and stories of birth, sisterhood and the holding relationship’
We will have supper then gather round the hearth to hear Rachel bewitch us with her magical tales. This is the start of our annual week-long retreat at the wonderful Wood Bank house in Llanhennock near Newport and is included in the ticket price for those booking on the retreat . We are nearly fully booked for the weekend (though we have space during the week), so please email firstname.lastname@example.org to check availability before buying tickets. If you want to attend the storytelling and/or retreat but find we are full, you could always stay at an Air B and B nearby and join us for the storytelling and other activities – if you do this we will only charge a nominal fee if you want to be included in the meals. We would love you to join us for this very special gathering of radical midwives and birthkeepers.
About Rachel O’Leary:
I am a storyteller, breastfeeding counsellor and IBCLC. The journey of woman to mother has fascinated me since I birthed my children in the 1970s and 80s. I was lucky to have the support of wise women in the birth movement and La Leche League at that time and continue treading that circle, helping women learn to breastfeed. I live near Cambridge, in a fen-edge village, and work at breastfeeding drop-ins for a charity and for NHS.
I regularly tell tales for Doula UK at their retreats; at the Cambridge Storytellers club, and locally.
Working alongside midwives, I’ve seen some of your struggles and want you to know how vital your work is. Ancient stories can help us delve to the root of our everyday dilemmas and unearth our strength – with women, together.
