Kate Greenstock
As a midwife she worked until recently within a continuity of carer team in London; as a coach, she supports midwives and others in healthcare to creatively re-imagine their work lives.
Her favourite part of being a midwife is witnessing and supporting ‘newborn’ families in their profound transition and changing identities. She brings an absolute conviction that there is no substitute in the world for you, and your unique voice.
Kate is a Certified Co-Active Coach (CPCC) and Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coach Federation (ICF).
She is a skilled facilitator of groups, shaping leadership development environments for pioneering healthcare professionals, and enjoys creating reflective spaces with midwives and student midwives.
She facilitates Schwartz Rounds (exploring the emotional impact of healthcare work) for her home NHS Trust and is an itinerant Professional Midwifery Advocate (PMA).
Her book Flourish: A Practical and Emotional Guide to Thriving in Midwifery was published in 2023.
It opens up a clear map of the rugged emotional landscape of midwifery, and invites a deeper awareness of self, purpose and choice using coaching tools and mindsets.

Elsie initiated ‘Midwifery Conversations’ a Community of Practice NGO which supports clinicians, students and interested others who work at birthing services. She facilitates learning and updating clinical and regulatory practices.
In 2017 Elsie received Honorary Fellowship of the University of Wolverhampton, in recognition of her contribution to midwifery, women’s rights in childbirth and mental health services within the Black community.
Currently Elsie is Co-secretariat to the All Party Parliamentary Group for Black Maternal Health at the UK House of Commons.

Suzanne and Joelle Colson
Dr. Suzanne Colson, a retired midwife, is a mother of 3 breastfed babies and co-founder of La Leche League, France. Suzanne’s personal journey of extended breastfeeding for over 10 years combined with over 40 years of clinical, teaching and research experience provide a unique platform for breastfeeding innovation. Suzanne developed biological nurturing during the 1990s and completed her Ph.D. examining the mechanisms of BN in 2006. Working closely with Dr. Michel Odent in Pithiviers State hospital in the 1980s provided insight into the importance of inhibiting neocortical activity not only during parturition but also during breastfeeding initiation. This is one of the prerequisites for instinctual breastfeeding. Suzanne now lectures widely online and with her daughter, she teaches a 6-day biological nurturing certification workshop in both French and English. Since 2017, over 150 healthcare professionals have been certified in Biological Nurturing.
Joelle is a qualified nurse, and worked in the NHS community public health sector where shechampioned infant feeding. Joelle is passionate about breastfeeding, is a published author and has personal experience of breastfeeding her 3 children spanning over 10 years. She was accredited La Leche League Leader in 2007 and is the director of The Nurturing Project, a small organisation with the purpose of disseminating Biological Nurturing research through conferences, workshops and own-produced resources. Joelle organises the Biological Nurturing certification 6-day workshop and teaches together with Suzanne; she also has an independent practice working as an antenatal/postnatal doula and BN lactation consultant.
With decades of combined experience in breastfeeding, biological nurturing, and maternal care, these two inspiring women have made remarkable contributions to the field. Suzanne, the pioneer behind Biological Nurturing, and Joelle, a passionate breastfeeding specialist, will be sharing their extensive knowledge on this topic.
