Why Do Birth Experiences Matter?
How can we make women’s births better – for women and midwives?
Please join us to hear our amazing speakers and to bring your own experiences to the conversation.
Becky Reed will be talking to us about her experiences with the Albany Practice
Milli Hill will talk about her own experiences of birth and how the different power dynamics at play, both in the birth stories themselves, and in the words she heard and used about them afterwards, inspired her to start a global movement for positive change. She will explain how she still feels passionately that birth is a feminist issue and that much change is still needed in how we view birth, how we talk about birth, and how we treat women in labour. We are still a long way from true freedom of choice!
Michelle Quashie will be talking us through her fears, frustrations and triumphs through birth and beyond and how the experience has been transformative for herself and others. She will also be discussing the importance of service user voice in transforming maternity care and what drove her to get involved with her MVP and host the first ever Women’s Voices Conference at the RCOG.
