The Retreat

Further information for those attending the retreat.

Please arrange to arrive after 4pm if joining us on the Friday. This gives us time to start dinner and unpack food and put the kettle on. Dinner will be around 7pm. Just let us know if you will be later and would like some dinner kept for you.

On any other day feel free to join us as early as you wish.

Bedrooms are shared. Bring your PJs!

Arrangements are that dinner is vegetarian and we take turns preparing, cooking and washing up. A volunteer will go shopping locally for any ingredients or other items that are required. It would be great if you have had some thought about a possible dish you could prepare, with help, and if you want to use herbs and spices, borrow your own from home as it can be very expensive buying them for one dish only.

Breakfast cereal, bread etc will be provided also.

Lunch is not provided so you have several options. Some of us, including me, visit the local pub for meat!! Others buy in food for consumption. Still others make soup or use up left overs – there will be an honesty box for this. Alcohol is not included. We may buy a box of wine and bring out the honesty box. Otherwise, please provide your own.

Calling all bakers!! We LOVE home baking for afternoon tea and the like. So feel free to bring some cakes, biscuits, sweets, homemade jam, whatever.

There will be a Steering Group meeting on the Saturday and you are welcome to join us, or not. On the Sunday we will hold the AGM. Thereafter the days are entirely your own. There may be some people offering therapies. We spend hours talking midwifery. Some people go out for walks, shopping, Alton Towers is only 7 miles away apparently. Up to you.

We have to leave by 10am on the following Friday morning. When you vacate your room, please leave clean and tidy as only a handful of people will be staying til the Friday morning to complete the clearing up.

Enjoy!! I do, every year. Would not miss it for anything. Please contact me if you have any queries, going to be late, lost etc. Not sure what reception is like so be patient. Linda Wylie 07762525957.
