National Meeting Wellingborough 7th Dec 2013
Our next National meeting is taking place in the Wellingborough area of Northamptonshire on Saturday 7th December. Anyone interested in the topics of the day is encouraged to attend: potential and existing student midwives and doctors; practising midwives, nurses, doctors etc.; birth supporters / birth workers; and women and their partners.
Ruth Sloman, RN and student midwife will present: ‘What are midwives’ views, feelings of confidence and experiences surrounding vaginal breech birth?’
Dr Amali Lokugamage, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist will present: ‘Why doctors fear homebirth’

Chaired by Milli Hill the programme includes:-

Margaret Jowitt ‘Pas de Deux – Dynamic positioning in labour’
Workshops will also be facilitated by De Partu (History of childbirth research group), Progress Theatre, Gussie Grips and the ARM.
A Curry and quiz night will be held at 8pm Thursday March 13th at the hotel the previous night to encourage networking.
Wigan Branch Spring Study Day
Wigan is holding a study day on Saturday 22nd March on the subject of ‘Weighty Matters’. This day is considering the issue of obesity and other weight issues in pregnancy and their effects on women and the service provided. Speakers include Ruth Deery and Clara Miriam.
